The connection between Graham and Mary McIntosh and Best Farming Systems products began almost four years ago when Brice Kaddatz (Best Farming Systems distributor) visited their 40-acre property at Mungilla in South East Queensland. The initial visit was to inspect a green-feed (grain sprouting) system the McIntoshes had been operating for several years, which had enabled them to maintain a high stocking rate on a relatively small area.
The visit proved valuable, with Brice later adopting a similar system for use with his own Gelbvieh cattle.

During discussions on the day, pasture condition across the McIntosh property was raised. Graham explained that pasture dieback and declining soil condition had resulted in large sparse areas with reduced pasture density and quality. Brice discussed the role of soil biology in improving soil structure, nutrient availability and pasture resilience, and provided information on TM Agricultural along with supporting case studies.

Following this discussion, the McIntosh family introduced Best Farming Systems products into their pasture program. Now entering their fourth year of use, the results have been significant.

Despite running 18 sheep and 15 steers on 40 acres, pasture density and volume have continued to improve. While seasonal conditions have been favourable, Graham notes that pasture performance is stronger than at any previous time during their ownership of the property. Improvements have also extended beyond pasture, with fruit trees on the property showing increased productivity and heavier fruit set.
